  1. Dr. Jorge Navarrete MD, Consultant Dermatologist, Santiago, Chile

After years of reading and citing Prof. Bunker’s many publications and book chapters, we had the pleasure to acquire this much-anticipated re-publication of his classic work. It has since become our go-to textbook in our Male Genital Dermatology Unit in South America. His experience is evident, with a logical order, based on clinical presentation and differentials, as well as literally hundreds of excellent images, many of which are unusual to find in other sources in this quality/quantity – well worth the price. The platform is quite friendly, and I managed to download it on my tablet in a matter of minutes.

  2. Mr Nish Bedi MBBS MSC BSC MRCS Urological surgery Trainee

This book is a comprehensive collection of penile dermatological diseases. It was written in 2004, but it is still very relevant to any specialists with an interest in male genital conditions. It boasts over 700 photos in 297 pages. Penile skin conditions are very commonly noted even when patients present with other urological pathology, so it is helpful to focus on the diagnosis and management from a dermatological viewpoint. The book is divided into chapters relevant to clinical practice with topics on “red patches and plaques”, “palpable lumps” or “balanoposthitis”.

I found the outstanding feature of this book to be the extensive photographs of penile skin conditions, often along with associated stigmata seen on other areas of the body such as the axilla, mouth, nail bed and forehead. The photos cover rare conditions such as lichen planus, extramamary pagets, kaposi’s sarcoma.

    Technical aspects

Simple to purchase and download online opened using Adobe Digital Editions. The menu and contents tabs allow for easy navigation.

    Conclusion

I really enjoyed reading this book and it has given me many learning points to improve my clinical practice. Overall I found it an excellent resource to improve the awareness and the management of penile dermatological conditions.
